About Me

Hello and Welcome.  I am your Host, Karl Huber.

in the studio

drawing in sketchbook with Micron pen.

   Illustration,

...or more generally,

the use of images to tell or illuminate a story, is something that has been used by humans from all around the world and across all time since the beginning of our species.  From cave walls to cathedral ceilings and all the pages in between, we fill the blank spaces with our art and images.  And, specifically, there is something unique about illustration and image making that cannot be duplicated with a camera.

I love stories.  I love the illustrations and images that are created for those stories, whether it is a history, fantasy, science fiction, diagrams in a medical journal, or a good old ghost story.

I take what I see or hear or read and try to put it into a single image that gathers all the unrelated bits and pieces of an experience together at once.

I borrow a lot from old sources both illustrative and narrative.  I like old science fiction stories where the moon was made of cheese and people traveled to other planets through dreams and magics.  And Histories of great events and moments in ancient time.

...and of course, Dungeons and Dragons, and comics and dinosaurs,

and horror movies and popcorn!

That, and I draw a lot...

Anyways,
